Violence à l'égard des femmes engagées dans la sphère politique et publique

Women and members of gender minorities who are active in the public sphere are under attack. This is a key challenge in our efforts to promote women’s leadership, equal political participation and empowerment. It goes hand in hand with the promotion of traditional gender norms as a global tendency that is particularly strong in increasingly conservative and authoritarian contexts (gender backlash). Cyber violence is a particularly widespread form of violence to control women.

  The objectives of the webinar are to:

  • Gain a better understanding of how to identify and name violence against women in the media, particularly journalists
  • Learn from experiences and initiatives in the media and professional organizations to prevent such violence
  • Reflect on how to use the media to raise society's awareness of these problems of violence against women journalists and women in the media

  For this webinar, we will be joined by Emma Heywood from the University of Sheffield in the UK, who will share her knowledge and experience of violence against women journalists, as well as Jackie Dalton, Editorial Manager of the Fondation Hirondelle, and other witnesses and experts.

  Les objectifs du webinaire sont les suivants:

  • Mieux comprendre comment identifier et nommer la violence à l'égard des femmes dans les médias, en particulier chez les journalistes
  • Tirer parti des expériences et des initiatives des médias et des organisations professionnelles pour prévenir cette violence
  • Réfléchir à la manière d'utiliser les médias pour sensibiliser la société à ces problèmes de violence à l'égard des femmes journalistes et des femmes dans les médias
