UN Women

UN Women offers various types of trainings. These include knowledge on general gender equality concepts and programming, as well as on specific gender related topics. This also includes courses on gender in humanitarian action. The course offer is structured in 3 main categories. For more detailed information and registration please consult the website.

  • Self-placed courses: are delivered online. They allow learners to access content at their pace, and from anywhere at any time. This type of course is mainly interactive and can include video, audio or animations to enhance the learning experience. It includes introduction to gender concepts, on how to mainstream, and on specific topics. Most of them are for free, available in several languages and with a duration from 1-more hours.
  • Scheduled courses: combine moderated, blended and/or face to face methodologies. Moderated courses emulate the traditional classroom environment and take this experience to an online setting: they include reading materials, communication between participants and provide an opportunity for participants to receive support from facilitators via discussion forums, interactive webinars and other activities. Blended courses combine online and face-to-face learning. Several days and tuition fees.
  • Customized courses: The UN Women Training Centre continuously identifies gaps in training and responds to demands for training on new contents. These courses are available on demand year-round in various learning modalities and can be customized to fit the needs of a specific audience (Only for groups). Several days and tuition fee.
  • UN Women in collaboration with others: Understanding Climate-Related Security Risks through an Integrated Lens. The self-paced e-learning course lays the foundation for understanding the interlinkages between climate change, peace, security, and social and gender-based inclusion.

Introductory courses and webinars on social protection

SDC online learning series on social protection

The SDC's training in 2021 and 2022 encompassed ten learning events spread over a period of one year. The learning modules built one upon another and looked at social protection from various angles. The first two modules generated a common understanding of the concept, instruments and impacts of social protection and constituted the basis for the seven technically more specialised modules which followed afterwards.

Access to the recordings of the Learning Series is based on request. If you are interested, please reach out to Maurice Voyame (see details at the bottom of this page).
