Center for Development and Cooperation NADEL, ETH Zurich, Switzerland

The Center for Development and Cooperation (NADEL) offers the following courses on the topic of governance:

Swiss School of Public Governance, ETH Zurich, Switzerland

Offers an onsite CAS (Certificate of Advanced Studies) in Public Governance and Administration focusing on contemporary governance, public management and policy domains.

School for Continuing Education, ETH Zurich, Switzerland

Institute of Federalism, University of Fribourg – Summer University on Federalism, Switzerland

The institute offers an onsite summer course where participants study comparative theory and practice of federalism, decentralized governance, forms of power sharing and their links with good governance, democracy, development and conflict resolution. The summer course has a more academic focus in one year (= summer academy) and target more practitioners the other year (= practitioners course)

Swisspeace, Switzerland

Offers various onsite courses linking peace building, State building and Human Rights, i.e. on peacebuilding and institutional reform in post-conflict settings.

The Hague Academy for Local Governance, Netherlands

The academy offers several onsite courses each year on different topics relating to local governance, i.e. municipal finance, peacebuilding, gender, conflicts, etc.

Duke Sanford University, Duke Center for International Development, USA

The university offers summer onsite courses on different topics, mainly on public finance aspects of governance, i.e. Fiscal Decentralization and Local Government Financial Management, Tax Analysis and Revenue Forecasting.

World Bank Open Learning Campus WBA Academy, USA

The campus offers different online courses, some free, some with a tuition, some self-paced or facilitated on different topics of the SDC governance themes: Local Finance, Local Governance, Social Cohesion, Social inclusion, etc.

International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA), Sweden

As SDC is a partner agency of International IDEA, it can request to set up some specific virtual training sessions (2h-3h each) targeting SDC staff/Swiss diplomats and diplomats from other Member States of International IDEA. Dedicated training can be organized on: Monitoring and supporting electoral processes / Constitution building and reform / Measuring and analyzing the state of democracy / Parliaments and representatives institutions / Inclusive democratic processes and institutions / Partnerships and policy advocacy for democracy at the multilateral level / Money in Politics / key challenges and opportunities to democracy in the world’s key regions.

Anti-Corruption

U4 Anti-Corruption Resource Center, Norway

U4 Online courses: As SDC is a partner agency of U4, SDC staff can take all courses without participation fee. The U4 training offer includes: 1) General courses on Corruption Risk Management and on Anti-corruption programming principles in development, both self-paced and expert led courses - 2) Specific courses on corruption prevention in sector-specific topics, i.e. natural resources, health, justice, gender, etc.

Tailor-made in-country courses: Every year, U4 selects, in consultation with member agencies, a number of country-specific workshops and engagements. This based on a call for applications distributed to partner agencies in the fall for the previous year.

Basel Institute on Governance BIG, International Centre for Asset Recovery ICAR, Switzerland

ICAR manages the Basel LEARN online learning platform designed to help law enforcement, anti-money laundering and compliance professionals gain new skills to fight financial crime. It offers a host of free interactive online courses and practical guidelines.

The Hague Academy for Local Governance, Netherlands

Among their different types of course, offers sometimes also a course on Integrity and anti-corruption.

The Policy Practice, UK
