Anti-corruption & asset recovery

Corruption has negative effects for the provision of basic services and the theft of public resources creates financial gaps, subverts the rule of law and undermines democratic governance. Hence, corruption represents a major development obstacle.

The Governance network contributes to the global efforts of combatting corruption in its many forms and at different levels, through:

  • Analysis and understanding of the structures and factors driving corruptions
  • Strategic interventions against corruption through specific anti-corruption programmes and initiatives
  • Anti-corruption perspective integration into sector programmes
  • Promotion of political dialogue
  • Engagement in global initiatives tackling corruption, in particular around asset recovery and illicit financial flows

The Governance network has developed an Anti-corruption Guidance (2021) in English and in French, completed by an experience capitalisation (2021), as well as an important and useful dedicated Anti-Corruption Toolbox (2022).
