Integrating anti-corruption measures into sector work—known as anti-corruption mainstreaming—offers a promising approach to tackle corruption challenges. It considers sector-specific characteristics, produces more tangible results for our target populations, and helps overcome political resistance. However, anti-corruption mainstreaming also presents challenges, such as sustaining and scaling results and persuading sector colleagues to embrace yet another «mainstreaming» topic.
Objective: The objective of this Network event is to share experiences among SDC colleagues on anti-corruption mainstreaming. Colleagues from the Western Balkans will present their recent experiences in incorporating a robust anti-corruption perspective across the development cooperation portfolio. We will also count with the presence of Claudia Baez Camargo from the Basel Institute on Governance, one of our PGE Backstopping Partner, currently collaborating with our office in Albania. All colleagues are strongly encouraged to share their own experiences, questions and challenges, in order to leverage the potential of our network. Please do not hesitate to convey the invitation to NPOs working in different sectors.
Guiding Questions:
- How to go about it? Which approach exists to promote anti-corruption mainstreaming in SDC portfolio?
- Where to start? Can we tackle all corruption risks with the same intensity through a mainstreaming approach?
- Yet Another Mainstreaming? How to overcome possible resistance to anti-corruption mainstreaming?
Agenda (Swiss time):
- 11:00: Introduction to the Webinar - Why Anti-Corruption Mainstreaming?
- 11:05: Experience Sharing: SCO Albania (including assessment done by Basel Institute)
- 11:20: Experience Sharing: SCO Bosnia and Herzegovina
- 11:30: Discussion
- 12:05: SDC Policy on Anti-Corruption and PGE’s Support Offer linked to Anti-Corruption
- 12:10: Closing
We look forward to your active participation and insightful contributions.
